It's so easy to become defensive if someone challenges your idea. Too often, we're caught up in our idea being us, when it's just an idea or a belief. We're all entitled to think and believe what we want, but getting defensive or explaining rarely changes the situation.
The point in this article is to be comfortable with yourself and your beliefs AND to avoid defending that in the face of criticism, particularly where the other person is coming from being "right."
