When I read this article, the Beatles song, “With a Little Help From My Friends” popped into my head. We can do work to determine our strengths and challenges. We can work with our team on their success. And, sometimes, we forget we can have others help us, by sharing and then asking them to hold us accountable.
In my own work, I’ve learned the value of sharing, to help create context for a conversation. Taking that one step further empowers the members of your team to be part of creating your success.
All it takes is asking. Sure, you have work to do to discover how you show up. Take advantage of that discovery and enlist people around you to hold you accountable.
It's also not a bad idea to let others know what you value and ask them to hold you accountable for living your values. Assuming that these are moral and ethical, they will drive your decisions and interactions with others in the very best way.
