I suppose this isn't really a surprise for anyone who works in an office. It was common to walk around and see women with blankets and portable heaters hidden under their desks.
Finding women performed better on math and verbal tasks in higher temperatures; while the opposite was true for men is an interesting opportunity for many businesses. The increase in performance for women in high temperatures was “significantly larger” than the decrease in the men’s performance. Increasing the temperature by just a few degrees would help provide a significant boost in overall performance.
For employers, these findings mean that by insisting on the subzero fridges you call cubicles, not only are you making half your employees miserable, you are also sacrificing productivity.
