It’s easy to ignore the elephant in the room. Yes, it’s big. Yes, it’s intrusive. And, to take it on, you have to be willing to confront, run the risk that your intentions will not be understood.

My approach is to take it on. Call it out. Engage the team who’s impacted into the process of dealing with the issue.

What is always amazing to me is how much better things feel when that elephant is dealt with. I’m not suggesting it will be without "pain," without controversy, and not dealing with it creates a shadow over the organization preventing a forward movement.
